Environment Minister Dion George withdrew his approval of the industry waste tyre management plan adopted in March 2024 and ordered a full review.
REDISA had challenged the plan in court, arguing that its targets were unrealistic. The review is meant to bring stakeholders back to the table on a crisis involving at least 253 000 tonnes of waste tyres a year.
